“Fire Emblem Warriors,” the hack-and-slash “Fire Emblem” spinoff game, released its first Downloadable Content (DLC) package in late December, which is centered around three characters from “Fire Emblem Fates” that become available for the player to control upon purchasing the DLC.
Each character comes with a History Mode map, which is an alternate map that recreates famous battles from various “Fire Emblem” games. History Mode map battles have more diverse victory conditions than the main story battles, ranging from dueling a particular boss to defeating a specific number of enemies. Rewards for completing the DLC’s new History Mode maps include new costumes for characters, boost items, and more.
As for the new characters themselves, two of them are infantry lancers and the other is an archer. Since the game’s main cast consists mostly of sword users, the addition of more lancers increases the variety of weapons players can use, which in turn increases their ability to confront a more diverse range of enemies.
The main cast’s three lance wielders are all flying units, so the inclusion of infantry lancers has brought refreshing and new gameplay to players. Additionally, one of lancers is also a songstress who can heal and support allies with certain attack sequence combinations, which further makes the DLC characters special and unique.
Although the DLC’s focus on and inclusion of more “Fire Emblem Fates” characters, who already are dominating the main game’s cast, has upset fans of other “Fire Emblem” games, the DLC seems well-received by other players for its additions.
The DLC pack is currently available for purchase and download in the Nintendo eShop.
